The Doves used for Dove Releases are actually speciality White Homing Pigeons or Rock Doves.

The Doves have been bred for many generations for their ability to home from distances of up to 100 miles.

Keen senses of hearing, smell, sight and the ability to read magnetic fields are thought to be some of the tools they use to complete their successful journey home.

Like most birds, Homing Pigeons/Rock Doves cannot navigate in inclement weather conditions such as heavy rain storms.

Our birds are fed on a select quality of raw grains, leaves and seeds. They are fed the night previous to the release but not on the actual release date, this assures that no mess will be left during handling or the release.

Our birds are not only handled daily but also vaccinated and each bird carries an identification ring with our contact details and number on.
